Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology(patch version. Killer Bandwidth Control Filter Driver, 1. Network: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 Network: Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller Network: Realtime OS Virtual Network Adapter Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, 2048 MB I just updated the BIOS and EC Firmware this weekend to the latest. I find it hard to believe the hardware suddenly died for that one port while doing nothing, so is there anything in the BIOS or elsewhere that might effect this? It has to be something that affects both OS (Knoppix runs purely from the DVD) and all I can think of is the BIOS now. So I do not think it has to do with the OS. It can use all ports and devices except that one USB port that fails under windows.
NET framework to the current version and reinstalled the new SCM. Instead, I uninstalled the SCM, updated the. I did both and after that the SCM no longer loaded and the USB port still did not work.
First I was told to update the SCM and re-install the Intel Chipset drivers.
I tried uninstalling the USB port drivers several times, turned off the sleep control for the USB devices, and followed some online guides on what to do to fix this. I left it alone until I got back from vacation. Does matter what I stick into it, I get the same error (Windows failed to recognize the device) and in the device manager it appears as a "Device Descriptor Request Failed". When I woke up and tried to use the laptop, the USB port (front right side) my wireless mouse adapter was plugged into stopped working. I closed the lid one night and let the laptop go to sleep. I have no problems with it until about 2 weeks ago when I was on vacation. It came with Win8 and was updated to Win10 a year ago or so.
